Instructional Beliefs
@ M.S.419

M.S. 419 instructional beliefs are championed by an inclusive community of bright (B) learners that aren't afraid to take educational risks and challenge their thinking.  To actively participate in a global society, we know we must remain resilient (R) when faced with adversity while navigating the complexities of life and remain adaptable (A). We leverage our virtues (V) and use our voices, so that we are empowered (E) to be the change we wish to see in the world.  We will be BRAVE.

Curriculum

MS 419 adopted culturally responsive HMH Into Literature Curriculum.

MS 419 adopted research based Illustrative Mathematics as the core curriculum.

HEALTH & PHYSICAL EDUCATION

In PE, students acquire the skills to work as a team, develop healthy personal fitness habits, and set fitness goals now and throughout their lives.   HealthSmart is our primary curriculum.

MS 419  uses Amplify Science as the core component of our program.

SOCIAL STUDIES

The NYCDOE K-8: Passport to Social Studies curriculum is our primary comprehensive instructional resource that integrates the NGLS and the New York State K-8 Social Studies Framework.

Civics for All

Civics For All is used as a companion to Passport to Social Studies curriculum.

PRIMETIME CREW

Every morning students participate in an advisory structure crew of 8-16 students led by an adult Crew Advisor. They focus on building essential academic and social-emotional skills through a combination of team building, student-centered academic support, conflict resolution and self-reflection.

CREW & SEL

Once a week, all students  participate in CREW.  Students utilize  R.U.L.E.R, tools, explore Habits of Mind, and  engage in thematic CREW activities to support their social emotional competency.
