Core Curriculum

M.S. 419 instructional beliefs are championed by an inclusive community of BRIGHT(B) learners that aren't afraid to take educational risks and challenge their thinking.  To actively participate in a global society, we know we must remain RESILIENT(R) when faced with adversity while navigating the complexities of life and remain ADAPTABLE(A). We leverage our VIRTUES(V) and use our voices, so that we are EMPOWERED(E) to be the change we wish to see in the world.  We will be BRAVE.

English Language Arts (ELA) 

MS 419 implements the culturally responsive HMH Into Literature curriculum to support literacy development for all students.
The curriculum emphasizes close reading, academic writing, and discussion through diverse and inclusive texts.
Instruction is designed to promote critical thinking, cultural awareness, and equitable learning outcomes.

Mathematics

MS 419 uses the research-based Illustrative Mathematics curriculum as its core mathematics program.
Students develop conceptual understanding through problem-solving, mathematical discourse, and real-world applications.
The curriculum provides rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that supports all learners.

Social Studies

MS 419 follows the NYCDOE K–8 Passport to Social Studies curriculum, aligned with New York State standards.
The program builds foundational knowledge in history, geography, economics, and civics through inquiry-based learning.
Civics for All serves as a companion resource to promote civic engagement, critical thinking, and student voice.

Science

MS 419 utilizes Amplify Science as the core science curriculum, aligned with the Next Generation Learning Standards.
The program engages students in hands-on, inquiry-based learning across physical, life, and Earth sciences.
Instruction emphasizes scientific reasoning, critical thinking, and the development of strong STEM foundations.

Health & Physical Education

The Physical Education program at MS 419 promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and lifelong wellness.
The HealthSmart curriculum provides comprehensive, research-based health education.
Students develop the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed decisions about their physical and mental health.
