Our Purpose

Our purpose is to cultivate an equitable, joyful, and academically rigorous learning community where every student develops the knowledge, skills, character, and agency to thrive in high school, college, career, and life.

Everything we do—from instruction and intervention to operations, family partnership, and student support—exists to advance this purpose.

Our Mission

To inspire every student to become a lifelong learner, compassionate leader, and engaged citizen by providing rigorous learning experiences, meaningful relationships, and equitable opportunities that prepare them to succeed in an ever-changing world.

Our Vision

We envision MS 419 as a school where:

  • Every student is known, challenged, and supported.

  • Every family is welcomed as an authentic partner in learning.

  • Every educator continuously grows through collaboration and reflection.

  • Every leader develops the capacity of others.

  • Every system advances equity, belonging, and excellence.

  • Every graduate leaves prepared to lead with courage, compassion, and purpose.

Our Beliefs

At MS 419, we believe:
Learning flourishes in environments where students feel safe, valued, and challenged.
Relationships are the foundation of meaningful learning.
High expectations and high support must exist together.
Every student possesses unique strengths, experiences, and limitless potential.
Families are essential partners and co-educators.
Diversity, language, and culture enrich our community and expand our collective understanding.
Leadership is a shared responsibility.
Continuous improvement is a way of thinking, not a destination.
Culture is intentionally designed through the choices we make every day.

Our Promise

Every decision we make will be guided by one question:

What is it like to be a student at MS 419?

If a decision strengthens learning, belonging, opportunity, and hope for our students, it moves us closer to our mission.
If it does not, we have the responsibility to rethink it.
This question reminds us that our work is not measured by adult intentions.
It is measured by student experiences.
